These futuristic friends were the must-have tech toys of the 1980s, and today they stand as iconic symbols of early home robotics.

Omnibot® 2000 – Model 5405
Released by Tomy between 1984 and 1988, the Omnibot 2000 was the top-of-the-line robot in the personal robot range. While not truly programmable in a modern sense, it offered users the ability to record movement and audio commands onto a standard cassette tape, with playback triggered by an in-built digital clock.
The star feature? The Omnibot 2000 could serve drinks using its detachable tray — which is included with this rare example! Stylish and ambitious, it remains one of the most advanced toy robots of its era.
Omnibot 5402
A slightly earlier sibling in the Tomy robot family, the 5402 still packed an impressive feature set. With a cassette player hidden in its chest, the robot could record and replay sequences, broadcast speech through a remote-controlled handset, and even trigger movements based on the clock’s timer.
The robot also came with a foldable cardboard “home base” used for positioning and recharging — a charming detail for any nostalgic collector.
