Medals & Ephemera from Three WW1 Newark Soldiers & Policemen – 2015

2015-09-21 15.29.49Three sets of WW1 medals, along with records, pictures and letters make an interesting lot at our Antiques & Collectors auction on September 26th and 27th.

Two sets of medals, death plaques, letters and notes belong to the Vacey (Robert Vacey and Walter Vacey) brothers who were both killed during the Great War. Newspaper cuttings in the lot include the Newark Advertiser with their obituaries from 1916.

The third set of medals belongs to Lacey who went on after the war to be a policeman and his collection of ephemera includes police notes of the Queen’s visit to Lincoln in 1953. There are also some interesting early photographs of Lincoln Prison and Greetwell Road. Viewing of this collection is highly recommended.
