Two signed prints by renowned British artist L. S. Lowry attracted strong bidding at Unique Auctions’ Antiques & Collectors Sale on 28th June 2025, confirming the continuing appetite for works by the celebrated northern painter.
The standout result was for Sailing Boats, a signed edition by Laurence Stephen Lowry R.A. (1887-1976), which achieved an excellent hammer price of £3,100. The print, preserved on a card frame and kept out of direct display, retained vivid colours. The reverse of the piece revealed its careful mounting, complete with the BFG blindstamp that helps confirm its authenticity.
Also on offer was The Pond, another signed limited edition by Lowry, which sold for £2,000. This print, too, had been kept out of view, ensuring its colours remained fresh. Some tape to the top was noted, though it remains invisible when framed. The piece carries the KDH blindstamp, another hallmark of its genuine limited edition status.
Both works represent Lowry’s distinct style and remain highly collectable among both seasoned collectors and admirers of 20th-century British art. The auction results reflect the enduring popularity and value of signed Lowry editions on the secondary market.
