SELLING AT AUCTION IS SIMPLE
If you have items that you wish to sell at auction the process is simple. If the items are small you can bring them to the auction rooms from Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm and one of our experts will appraise the item and advise you as to what they are likely to make at auction.
If you have larger items or perhap a complete house to clear one of our auctioneer's will visit you at the premises and give and appraisal and a quote for the clearance free of charge. If you decide to use our services then a charge will be made for the collection and clearance of the property at cost depending on the time taken. We charge £1.50 per lot entry fee and 15% commission on the hammer price. There are not other hidden charges.
If you have a complete collection that you wish to dispose of such as stamps, coins, medals, etc., our auctioneer will offer a valuation for the whole collection rather than individual items. The collection will then be entered in the next available specialist sale.
BUYING AT AUCTION FOR THE FIRST TIME
On your first visit to the auction room you will need to register for a 'BIDDING NUMBER' before you can bid.
Buyers Premium is charged at 15% + VAT of the hammer price
Please ensure that you view all items that you are interested in properly as once the hammer has fallen you have made a contract to purchase.
If you are unable to attend the auction you are welcome to leave a 'COMMISSION BID' and one of our team will be happy to bid on your behalf. We obtain the item for you at the lowest price offered at the auction, for example, if you left a £40 commission bid on a lot the auctioneer will not start the bidding at your commission bid unless it is the lower of several bids. Hence you may buy the item for less than the bid you left. Our staff will be happy to advise you and give estimates on any items you may be thinking of bidding on
We operate a full telephone bidding service which can be booked via our office the day prior to the auction. Approximately 10 lots before the item you wish to bid on comes up for auction, one of our staff will ring you and advise you of the bids being offered in the saleroom and you can instruct us on the phone to bid. There is no charge for this service
You are welcome to ask for a condition report on any item in a forthcoming auction, but it would be appreciated if such requests are received 1-2 days prior to the sale. Our auction are very well attended and on auction days our staff are very busy and we would not be able to access the lot
